- Agnes was a woman claimed in ownership by white enslaver Elizabeth Govan Hill. She was one of twenty-nine people enslaved by Hill, documented on a list of her "servants," January 13, 1862. She is recorded as being twenty-six or twenty-seven years old and residing in Albemarle County, Virginia. She had four children: Randall, Peggy, Jarratt, and an infant boy. On August 14, 1862, Agnes and her children were trafficked and sold by Hill to white enslaver John Staige Davis.
