Description: Brick House Plantation was the first North Carolina home of Richard Bennehan (1743-1825), a white enslaver and father of Rebecca Bennehan Cameron. Brick House Plantation, also known as Mount Union, was situated on the east bank of Flat River where it feeds into the Eno River. The dwelling is considered the only known antebellum brick house in Durham County, N.C.; Black people were enslaved by members of the white Cameron and related families at this place in the 1800s before emancipation.
