He was the son of Watt Campbell and Theresa Campbell and the brother of Frank Campbell, Sam Campbell, Rachael Campbell, Charlotte Campbell, Emeline Campbell, Watt Campbell, Unknown Campbell, and Daniel Campbell. He was enslaved at St. Inigoes when the 1838 sale was being planned. He married Elizabeth Mahoney Campbell and was the father of Watson Campbell, Susan Campbell, and Samuel Campbell.
