Susan Hawkins was born in approximately 1838. She was enslaved at White Marsh when the 1838 sale was being planned. She was the daughter of James and Delia and the sister of Tom Hawkins, George Hawkins, and Charles Hawkins. Susan married John Marshall in Louisiana and was the mother of Francis Marshall, John Alexander Marshall, Charley Marshall, Effie Marshall, and Henry Hawkins. Susan died on December 17, 1880, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
